NPHCDA: TAConnect’s Model Aligns Squarely with Nigeria’s Health Sector Renewal

Representing the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Muyi Aina, Dr. Nana Sada Abubakar of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), affirmed the organization’s place in the government’s strategic direction.

For the NPHCDA, the true measure of a partner is alignment, and on that score, TAConnect passed with distinction. Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Agency’s Executive Director and CEO, Dr. Muyi Aina, Dr. Nana Sandah Abubakar congratulated TAConnect on reaching its fifth anniversary and situated the organization firmly within the government’s vision for a stronger health system.

TAConnect, she noted, has been supporting the Government of Nigeria in realizing the vision of strengthening the health system under the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Initiative, which is driven by a sector-wide approach. The operational model TAConnect pioneered (demand-driven, state-led, and coordinated) aligns naturally with that strategic direction.

Looking ahead, Dr. Abubakar outlined where the Agency’s focus now lies after a year of intensive effort to revitalize the Primary Health Care (PHC) sector: consolidation and scale-up. The priorities, she explained, centre on reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, and on improving the quality of service delivery at the PHC level, a territory in which TAConnect has worked from its first day.

“We appreciate the efforts in supporting and complementing the government’s efforts,” she said, before extending an invitation that doubled as an endorsement: the Agency looks forward to the coming years and to more support toward realizing a shared vision, making Nigerians healthy, together.
