As Africa continues to harness digital technologies to strengthen healthcare delivery, TAConnect is contributing to the growing conversation on how innovation can accelerate progress in reducing maternal mortality and improving health outcomes for women and children.
At the 6th Africa Digital Health Summit (ADHS) 2026 in Abuja, TAConnect’s Executive Director, Dr. Lilian Anomnachi, joined leading policymakers, health experts, development partners, and technology innovators as a panelist to explore scalable digital health solutions for improving maternal health across the continent.
The summit, a premier platform for advancing digital transformation in Africa’s health sector, brought together stakeholders to examine how technology can strengthen health systems, improve service delivery, and expand equitable access to quality healthcare.
During the panel discussion, Dr. Anomnachi highlighted the critical role of digital innovation in strengthening maternal health programmes by enabling the identification and tracking of pregnant women throughout the continuum of care, from antenatal services to safe delivery and postnatal care. She emphasized that digital tools could support the early identification of high-risk pregnancies, facilitate timely referrals, and provide real-time data that enables health managers and policymakers to make informed decisions and improve health system performance.

She also underscored the importance of ensuring that digital health solutions are accessible to underserved populations. Leveraging low-tech innovations such as SMS messaging, voice-based platforms, and community health worker applications, she noted, can significantly improve access to essential maternal health information and strengthen the connection between communities and health facilities, particularly in resource-constrained settings.
Drawing on TAConnect’s experience supporting reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, adolescent health and nutrition (RMNCAH+N) programmes across Nigeria, Dr. Anomnachi stressed that technology alone cannot transform health outcomes. Sustainable impact, she explained, depends on integrating digital innovations into strong health systems supported by competent health workers, effective governance, reliable data systems, and sustained government ownership.
TAConnect’s participation at ADHS 2026 reflects the organisation’s commitment to advancing evidence-informed, context-specific digital health solutions that strengthen Primary Healthcare systems and improve service delivery. By contributing technical expertise to regional discussions on digital health, TAConnect continues to support governments and partners in adopting innovations that enhance the quality, efficiency, and equity of healthcare services.
As countries across Africa accelerate their digital health transformation, TAConnect remains committed to leveraging technology, strategic partnerships, and technical assistance to build resilient health systems that ensure every woman, child, and family has access to quality healthcare when and where it is needed most.
