A new chapter in the effort to strengthen maternal health services in Kaduna State began in August 2026, as TAConnect commenced service delivery support to nine hospitals previously supported under the ACEPHAP programme. The facilities comprise seven secondary level hospitals and two teaching hospitals.

Following the successful transition of the nine facilities to TAConnect, the organisation worked closely with the Kaduna State Government to conduct familiarisation visits and service delivery mapping across the inherited facilities. The exercise p facilitated an understanding of the needs of each facility and ensure a smooth continuation of support for the implementation of the PPH and E-MOTIVE bundle of care. The visits preceded formal support to these facilities. The intervention included the deployment of PPH care registers and E-MOTIVE action plans, alongside on-site refresher training for Skilled Birth Attendants. The training strengthened providers’ capacity to recognise the early signs of postpartum haemorrhage, promptly triggering the PPH/E-MOTIVE bundle of care, and accurately documenting care provided using the PPH registers and other data tools.

The transition also goes beyond service delivery to address the sustainability of maternal health interventions. As part of its sustainability strategy, TAConnect is strengthening the procurement and availability of essential maternal and newborn health commodities through collaboration with the Kaduna State Health Supply Management Agency.

With the transition now complete, TAConnect’s support to the nine facilities marks an important step in sustaining gains in maternal health, strengthening frontline provider capacity, and ensuring that women experiencing postpartum haemorrhage receive timely, quality, and lifesaving care.
