During the month under review, the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board, in collaboration with TAConnect, successfully conducted facility-based training on Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) management using the E-MOTIVE bundle approach for 72 Skilled Birth Attendants (SBAs) across supported health facilities in Kauru and Kagarko LGAs. The participants comprised 53 nurses and midwives and 19 Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs), all of whom provide frontline maternal health services in these facilities.
The training reinforces TAConnect’s sustained commitment to strengthening frontline healthcare capacity through knowledge enhancement and practical, hands-on clinical skills. By equipping SBAs with skills and competency in PPH prevention and treatment, the intervention aims to significantly improve the quality of maternal health services provided to women accessing care in supported facilities.
With this round of training, Kaduna State has achieved full saturation of SBAs with the required skills to effectively prevent, detect, and manage postpartum hemorrhage across the seven MAMII-supported LGAs. This milestone represents a critical step toward reducing preventable maternal deaths and improving maternal health outcomes statewide.
Following the completion of the training, Kaduna State and TAConnect will immediately commence structured mentoring across the 115 supported facilities to reinforce skills application, ensure adherence to protocols, and sustain quality improvement in maternal health service delivery.
