This TAConnect Coffee Table book, The Impact Journey, marks five years of connecting mothers and children to care in Nigeria. It is both a celebration and a reflection, built on the belief that founded us: that sustainable development is achieved when technical assistance strengthens local systems, builds local capacity, and places communities at the centre of change.
Across eight chapters, the book traces our journey from founding to the present. It follows the strengthening of primary health care in Kaduna and Kano, the scaling of Group Antenatal Care to over one million women in the largest rollout of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa, our national work on safer motherhood, the closing of the zero-dose immunization gap in Kano, and the evolution of the TAConnect model itself. It closes with where we go next, from deepening engagement in priority states to scaling our impact across Africa.
What gives the book its shape is not the numbers but the people behind them. Full-bleed documentary photography sits alongside the voices of health workers, mothers, and government partners, because behind each achievement is a mother who received quality care, a child protected from preventable disease, a health worker empowered with new skills, or an institution better equipped to serve its people. These stories offer only a glimpse of the journey, a selection of the many lives touched, systems strengthened, and partnerships forged.
