The second quarter of 2024 reflects TAConnect’s continued strides in advancing maternal and newborn health and strengthening Nigeria’s primary healthcare systems. Marked by strategic collaborations and catalytic initiatives, this period underscores our sustained commitment to reducing maternal mortality and improving health outcomes nationwide.
A major highlight was our partnership with the Safe Motherhood Branch of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to finalize national guidelines addressing maternal mortality from Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH), Pre-eclampsia, and Eclampsia. Supported by TAConnect and key partners, this milestone reinforces a shared national commitment to evidence-based interventions that save lives.
We also supported the Federal Government of Nigeria in strengthening healthcare worker capacity through the development of a comprehensive PPH training manual and the successful convening of a National Training of Trainers in Abuja. These efforts equip frontline providers with the critical competencies required to effectively manage obstetric emergencies and improve maternal health outcomes at scale.
At the state level, our Primary Healthcare Management Capacity Strengthening Project in Kano State continues to drive measurable progress. By focusing on governance reforms, management capacity, and system resilience, we are helping build sustainable foundations for improved healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
Looking ahead, the extension of the Pfizer Foundation grant to expand rotavirus vaccination efforts in Kano State further demonstrates our commitment to advancing child health and immunization coverage.
