The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) with support from TAConnect and other key partners hosted a two-day workshop focused on finalizing critical Maternal Health capacity building materials. The meeting, which held on March 25-26 at the TAConnect Office in Abuja, pooled expertise from TA Connect including several organizations like the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), Solina Centre for International Development and Research (SCIDAR), Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN), and Ace Strategy. to review and finalize the Integrated Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) and Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC) Training and Mentoring Materials.
This collaborative approach ensured comprehensive input for the training framework that will empower healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills needed to manage emergency obstetric situations effectively.

The collaborative team established concrete next steps including the finalization of training materials incorporating all stakeholder feedback, dissemination of the training and mentoring plan to key health institutions, and pilot implementation at selected primary healthcare centers before nationwide rollout.
This initiative represents a critical step forward in Nigeria’s efforts to reduce maternal mortality and improve newborn health outcomes. By strengthening the capacity of primary healthcare providers through standardized, evidence-based trainings, TAConnect and its partners are working toward sustainable improvements in maternal and newborn care across the country. The finalized training materials and mentorship strategies will better equip frontline healthcare providers to manage maternal and newborn emergencies, ultimately improving health outcomes throughout Nigeria.
