TAConnect is excited to have been represented at the Policy Innovation Centre Summit held on Friday, February 28, 2025, where our Executive Director, Dr. Lilian Nneka Anomnachi joined other distinguished panelists to discuss opportunities for accelerating gender justice in Nigeria.
The panel discussion, titled “What Are the Opportunities for Accelerating Gender Justice in Nigeria?” aligned with the International Women’s Day 2025 theme, “Accelerate Action.” The discussion focused on practical solutions for closing gender gaps across key sectors, ensuring that commitments translate into measurable outcomes for women’s empowerment.

During the session, Dr. Anomnachi shared expert insights on maternal health challenges and healthcare access barriers in Nigeria. She highlighted TAConnect’s Group Antenatal Care (GANC) model as a transformative approach that improved the experience of care and maternal health outcomes across implementation sites in Nigeria. This innovative model has not only increased antenatal care attendance and enhanced maternal health knowledge but has created sustainable support networks among expectant mothers.
Dr. Anomnachi emphasized that addressing maternal health requires a multisectoral approach beyond clinical interventions alone. She stressed the critical importance of strengthening women’s agency and decision-making power, enabling them to actively seek care when needed, while simultaneously building their capacity to overcome social, economic, and cultural barriers to healthcare access. This comprehensive approach demonstrates how community-centered healthcare solutions can effectively address Nigeria’s maternal health gaps while empowering women through shared experiences and enhanced autonomy.
She highlighted critical gaps in maternal health services and advocated for more inclusive healthcare policies that prioritize the needs of women and girls. The discussion also underscored the importance of strengthening policies, leveraging digital solutions, and enhancing women’s participation in leadership and economic activities.
The conversation reinforced the importance of advocating for policy changes and translating commitments into action by improving accountability, investing in digital literacy and access for women, and expanding healthcare services to marginalized communities.

Dr. Anomnachi was joined by other distinguished panelists, including:
- Maryam Augie-Abdulmumin, Executive Director, Illmi Children’s Fund
- Amina Hanga, Executive Director, Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative
- Peter Akinnusi, Head of Programmes, TechHerNG
- Alabi Adeola Israel, Gender Research Associate, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)
TAConnect stands beside Nigerian women every day, walking the journey toward better health and stronger voices. The participation of Dr. Anomnachi in this critical dialogue reaffirms TAConnect’s thought leadership in shaping inclusive policy discussions that drive real impact. As we continue to champion equity and equality in healthcare and beyond, TAConnect calls on all stakeholders to join efforts to ‘Accelerate Action’ to obtain gender justice and ensure that every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive.
